CB2, the sister company of furniture and home decor store Crate & Barrel, is closing its San Francisco location by the end of this week.

The company announced the upcoming closure of its Union Square location on its website and then again in a Google update, stating that the store at 34 Ellis St. will close its doors after Jan. 22.

“All good things must come to an end,” the update said.

CB2 opened its Union Square store in 2008, eight years after the company launched and 46 years after its flagship company Crate & Barrel was founded in 1962. The stores act as a smaller, sleeker alternative to Crate & Barrel and feature modern furniture pieces and home decor.

Crate & Barrel also closed its Union Square location at 55 Stockton St. in March because its lease was ending. CB2’s closure is the latest retail outlet in downtown San Francisco to shut its doors. Multiple stores in the area have closed over the past several years, including Abercrombie & Fitch, Uniqlo, DSW, H&M and Nordstrom Rack.

Including its San Francisco store, CB2 has 24 stores in the U.S. and Canada, according to the company’s website. Its remaining Bay Area locations are in Berkeley and San Jose.
